Why Families Choose Maple Grove

Maple Grove’s growth story is one of the best in the metro. What was largely farmland 30 years ago is now a fully built-out city of 75,000 people — and it hasn’t happened by accident. Maple Grove has been intentional about planning, parks, and preserving the quality of life that drew people here in the first place.

The Arbor Lakes Experience

Arbor Lakes is the commercial heart of Maple Grove and a genuine destination — an open-air shopping and dining district with a walkable streetscape that feels more like a small city main street than a suburban strip mall. Restaurants, specialty retail, a movie theater, and national anchors all coexist well.

Neighborhoods

Maple Grove’s neighborhoods largely reflect the era they were built. The older sections near downtown Maple Grove (north of 94) feature 1980s–1990s homes on established lots. The newer development near Arbor Lakes tends toward 2010s and newer construction with larger homes and modern layouts.

Elm Creek area homes near the regional park offer the most nature-connected living in the city — easy trail access, wetland views, and relatively quiet streets.

Real Estate Market

Maple Grove offers strong value relative to inner-ring suburbs. A median around $480K puts well-maintained 4-bedroom homes within reach for many buyers. The market is competitive in spring but generally more accessible than Edina or Plymouth.

Getting Around

I-94 is Maple Grove’s lifeline — it runs east-west through the city and makes the 30-minute downtown Minneapolis commute realistic. County Road 30 and Highway 169 also provide north-south access. Like most northwest suburbs, Maple Grove is car-dependent, but trail connectivity within the city is excellent for recreational use.
